Tours
Cavok AirTours is organizing the following guided self-fly all-inclusive flight adventures:
- Adria, Alps & the Glorious Empire
- Around the Alps
- The Mediterranean Spirit I.
- The prologue day – not a separate tour, but rather the first day of each of the other tours
The tours on this list have been tested, flown frequently and our guides know every detail of the route, landing airports, alternatives, airspace flown, hotels and restaurants that we will use, and are prepared for any contingencies en-route (weather, aircraft failures, medical conditions, etc.).
The tours have been designed to be a balanced mix of history, nature, people and aviation points of interest. We have selected many of the locations that are not on the primary tourist routes, both because we expect that many of our guests have already experienced some of the main tourist attractions and because we want to avoid the crowd and be a bit exclusive. Main tourist attractions also mean very busy airports which we wanted to avoid; smaller airports that we will be using allow us to see interesting and exclusive places that would be almost impossible to reach by any other means.
A typical day has a morning flight and a day ground-trip to some local points of interest. The flight is a day VFR flight avoiding the busy airports and congested regions. Most of the flying is done in uncontrolled airspace, although almost always on a flight plan since we are usually crossing the international borders. The flights are designed to that there is plenty of opportunity to divert or modify each leg should the weather require so. All routes are designed so that the sights from the plane are interesting. We will fly "low and slow" to be able to see the landscape and monuments from the cockpit. Although at most places the historical centers of the cities (especially in Italy) are a no-fly zone, we will sometimes make special arrangements with local control to allow us to fly as close as possible to the interesting locations.
We have a scheduled no-fly day every three or four days. These days are meant to be used for your own exploration of the location, shopping, sightseeing, visiting cultural events, ... There are optional activities on some of these days: excursions, additional (optional) flying, glacier flying or similar. In case of non favorable weather, planned no-fly days will allow us to catch up with the schedule. Last but not least: whenever we schedule a wine tasting diner it is in front of the no-fly day to allow the pilots to drink a glass more than the morning flying routine would allow.
The tour schedules are a guideline to the tour director. The schedules and routes may be modified to the taste of the group and they will be modified to the flying conditions and weather.
We are expanding our list of tours and we want to be able to offer new adventures to our previous guests. We welcome ideas / requests for other tours. We are willing to organize a custom-made tour for a group of several pilots. To organize a tour at the expected quality level, we prefer to use places and routes that we know. For any new destinations, we can either explore the destination before committing to any service level or we can organize a tour of surprises (to us and to our guests).
